Well, I won one of the 365 Days of Manga, a review/giveaway marathon hosted by Jason Thompson over at suvudu.com. [link]

For those who haven't heard, Jason has an overflowing apartment of manga, so he's now giving out 5 free manga a day to a random winner, and 5 more to every winner who posts a picture of him/herself and the books online.

So, yeah, thank you, Jason, for the first 5, and I want more free books. n.n

I was actually dreading writing up this bit of the comment because I'm going to sound like such a whiny, ungrateful kid...but Jason did say to let him know what we thought.

In Round 1, I received a shojo/josei mix of "Three in Love" Vol. 1, "Suppli" Vol. 2-3, and "Love Master A" Vol. 1-2. Honestly, I couldn't take anything in the pack. I know the shojo genre is, like, built on romance, but I generally prefer titles that use it as a subplot (or at least pretend to), rather than as the main conflict device. Three of five books seemed to have nothing going on but relationship problems, and not even the little spurts of comedy could save them. (It probably didn't help that they leaned toward the "mature" range which I usually avoid.) The other two tried a little harder for the comedy and plot, but with a title like "Love Master A," there was only so much to be done.

Anywho, I've gained a new appreciation for manga reviewers who read through absolutely everything, and head on over to suvudu.com for your chance to win free manga! (Woohoo for shameless advertising!)
